JUST ASK...

Question:
I found a litter of newborn kittens in my back yard.  What should I do with them?  I'm afraid they will die if I leave them there.
Recommendation:
Most likely their mother thought she was putting them in a "safe" place & will return for them.  Keep an eye on them & see if the mother comes back.  Do not pick them up or move them, the mother will think that you stole them from her.  New born kittens need their mother's warmth & milk.  One of the most common causes of death in newborn kittens is low body temperature.  If the mother fails to return after a reasonable amount of time, take the kittens & put them on a warm (not hot) water bottle.  Then call an animal rescue organization & explain the situation.  They will either instruct you on how to care for the kittens, or refer you to a Foster Parent who is trained on caring for newborn kittens.

Question:
How do you trim a cats nails?
Recommendation:
Since the Florida Humane Society reccomends that cats be indoor pets, it will make everyone happier if your cats nails are trimmed.  The following site explains how to trim your cats nails with ease:  About Cat's Claws
